WHAT TO REMEMBER IF YOU FEEL LIKE A FAILURE
You are not a failure! You might have failed certain things, but you are not a failure! Failure is not determined by you not accomplishing something. You are where you are for a reason. Use failure as a chance to grow and get better! Here is what you need to remind yourself if you feel like a failure!
1) YOUR FEELINGS ARE NOT ALWAYS THE REALITY
Feeling like a failure does not mean that you are a failure. While your feelings are valid, it’s important to remember that just because you feel a certain way, doesn’t necessarily make it the truth. For example, if you failed at something, our minds often take us to a dark place of doom and gloom. Because you failed an exam doesn’t mean you won’t succeed in the future, or because you broke up with that person doesn’t mean you are unlovable. Remember to put things into perspective
2) FOCUS ON THE THINGS YOU CAN CONTROL
You can’t control everything, and that is ok! You can only control your actions before, during and after an outcome. It’s always good to go for what you want and to try new things, and when we do, certain expectations come with it. Unfortunately, sometimes the outcomes you want and hoped for don’t always pan out the way you wanted. Don’t blame yourself for this! You can’t control everything, and this doesn’t make you a failure!
3) YOU CAN ALWAYS LEARN FROM YOUR FAILURES
Failure is not a band thing! I repeat! FAILURE IS NOT A BAD THING! You can always learn from your failures. Perhaps next time approach what you failed in a different way. Remember, sometimes it isn’t about working hard, but working smarter. But remember, you might not figure things out straight away, but use failure as a learning opportunity.
4) PROGRESS, NOT PERFECTION
With progress comes failure. Progress doesn’t mean you will always succeed, it just means you will carry on going and learning and succeeding with opportunities of failure, which you can learn from. Keep doing what you are doing and learning from what you are doing. After all, Rome wasn’t built in a day. Growth comes with failure, so keep going!
5) KEEP BEING GRATEFUL
A grateful person is a powerful person! Being grateful doesn’t mean you live in lala land and have a perfect life. It means that regardless of all the struggles, failures and setbacks you have in life, you still have things to be grateful for. And it doesn't have to be huge wins. It’s all about small wins, like the fact that you are alive, you have access to things, etc. Be thankful for the things which are going right, it’s so easy to forget about those things!
